“The Lord will fight for you, you need only be still.”
Exodus 14:14
Day 21, he’s still thriving!
Today, I got some one on one time with little Joseph. I was able to talk to him, tell him about his family, sing some songs and pray over his sweet body. The nurse let me just be in the room, sit and stare without others watching. He has not gained as of last night and is still at 1.10 pounds. They weigh him every night before they increase his milk. He is eating 5ML and they will increase that at midnight to 6ML. He has done well with 5ML and is continuing to make progress. He had a bath this morning and his bed changed, he was tired out from all the action. They clean him with a cotton ball because he is so tiny. His oxygen on the vent remains at 30% and his lungs are continuing to become stronger everyday. They check his blood every Thursday and it came back normal this week, so no transfusion in the near future. He was also able to be without the lights on him this morning because his jaundice levels were testing more normal. The MRSA on his ear is so tiny that you can barely see it and seems to be healing on its own with the topical antibiotics. Hopefully he will test negative next week and we can go in without the full body scrubs and gloves. I made the mistake of wearing a sweater in today and I was extremely warm with all those layers on, live and learn!
Today was also a special day because the nurse on call let me touch him for the first time. I was taken back when I asked, when I would be able to touch him? She looked at me and said, now. I was not expecting her to say I could, it was an extra special surprise. Being able to put my hand on him and feel his heart beat through his back was so amazing! There is just something about physically touching him that makes my heart stop. He is mine! While I was touching his little hand he wrapped his fingers around mine, what a moment! I had to quickly ask the nurse if she would take my picture, a moment I never want to forget! Each day he makes steps towards being stronger and I am honored that I get to sit by his little bed and share those moments with him.
You are the BEST mommy and God has really blessed baby joseph with you all! Grow baby grow!
Amen to all of the above! Grow baby grow!!
I agree with Aunt Kacie! Romi, you are truly living out Proverbs 31:10 – “She opens her hand to the poor, and reaches out her hands to the needy.” Nice Job, Proverbs Mommy!!
Thanks Maggie, we don’t feel like saviors but do feel like Joseph will bless our lives and in fact already has.
Precious, precious, precious! Violet had multiple blood transfusions and we did have to wear the scrubs at one point, though I think it was not because of an infection…maybe something else. These pictures will be so cherished as you look back when he’s older and just stand amazed and in awe at the miracle God gave you.
