Not much new over here today. We are still staying steady at 1 pound 12 ounces with no decrease in weight. Since they are are lowering his ventilator each day, his body is working a little harder, this results in not as much weight gain. The good news is, his body is doing what it is supposed to, eating, digesting and breathing. They increased his feedings and are up to 14ML this afternoon. They will stay at 14ML tonight and not increase that yet, but they added a fortifier which will make his milk 22 calories instead of 20 calories. All milk whether breast or formula is 20 calories. Hopefully this will also aid in some weight gain!
They will check his blood tomorrow, this happens every Friday to make sure that his body doesn’t need a little replenishing. As I have said in a previous post, this is very normal for preemie babies because their bodies are not quit ready to replenish all of that blood on their own yet. The IV in his leg is out for now, their were no problems taking that out last night. Thanks for continuing to check in our little guy and praying for his strength!
We have believed from day one that Joseph was placed in our family because we were called according to his purpose to push back the darkness of orphans in our world. We are just one family but we can help just one or later on maybe another baby or babies. We believe that if just one person/family can take a stand against darkness then waves of light will take over the darkness. God has called us all to take up his burden for the orphans, the widows and the oppressed. I pray that our love for those around us is rooted in the love of Christ. That we will let go of the things of the world such as money and self righteousness and instead take the burden of those around us, even if that is just loving our neighbors/family.
