1 Month Old

**His room and fancy new ventilator**

We made it a month folks! Joseph is still tiny but he is making big steps in the right direction. Today he was moved down from the CPAP ventilator to a vapor therm, this requires him once again to breath a little more on his own. The new machine does not push the oxygen with as much force to the back of his lungs, instead the oxygen is just there and he breaths without help. He also celebrated his one month birthday today! He is still tiny but keeping down his 16ML of food with no residual left after the feeding, that means he is fully digesting it all! We are hoping after he adjust to working harder, he will start packing on the pounds. He also tried out a pacifier today, he loved to suck on it but just couldn’t remember how to suck, swallow and breath all at the same time. So, they will continue to offer it to him for short periods of time. He will eventually build up to using the pacifier and learning how to suck, swallow and breath all at once. This, hopefully, will lead to eating from a bottle later on. As for now we take it one day at a time and praise God for the miracles he has already given us. We know his life may have not been with us if not for God intervening even before he was born. We are so thankful for such strong little fighter already, we just know he is going to grow up to be a giant!
