Growing Like A Weed

Joseph continues to amaze us everyday. This week, I believe, has really been a turning point of growth. He is now at 2 pounds and 8 ounces or 1130 grams. Each day this week he has gained weight and the last three days he has gained over 40 grams, or more, a day. His oxygen assistance is decreasing and he will soon be moving to the nasal cannula. All of his blood levels are good this week and he is maintaining his sodium, so, he no longer needs as much of the sodium supplement. He is still at 20ML for his feedings every 3 hours with the 24 calorie fortifier and his MCT oil. He no longer needs medicine the help digest his food and is continuing to have no problems using with his GI tract! It is getting much easier to bond and care for him as he continues to grow and make giant steps towards coming home. We still have a long way to go but we are seeing some light at the end of the tunnel. The forward progression not only helps him but tremendously helps mom and dad. We can start to see an infant in his appearance and in his mannerisms. He is alert and active more than he has been in the past weeks and his facial expressions are really coming through. It is AMAZING the progress we have seen in just a few short weeks but particularly this week! Praying that we continue to have great growing weeks ahead!
