Joseph turned 2 months old yesterday and celebrated by weighing in at 3 pounds! We are so proud of his progress, in particularly in the last two weeks. He has gone from 2 to 3 pounds in just 16 days. He also transitioned from vapotherm to nasal cannula today which is a wonderful step forward. Next step would simply be breathing on his own! He is eating 27ML as of today and is weighing in at 1360 and soon will reach the 1500 mark to start swaddling and wearing clothes. It seems as if all these new milestones will come quickly, and in no time we will be bringing him home. Kirby and I will be allowed to hold him twice a day very soon, the bonding is so amazing when we are allowed to do skin to skin. It helps to put into perspective that he is truly a little baby who loves the touch and love from others. We have seen him grow into this the older he is and we are so blessed to love on his little body. As we transition into the next phase of the NICU where Joseph will begin to navigate life even more without the help of machines and nurses it is terrifying and at the same time so exciting. We literally are witnessing with every milestone a miracle. I know I probably state this every post but watching him grow and surpass what anyone thought possible is so amazing!
Also, on his 2 month birthday, Joseph received a visit from his big sisters. They are always so excited to go see their tiny brother. They are getting used to touching him and watching us change his diapers in his isolate. Isla may even be a little too comfortable with popping open the side of the bed and sticking her little hand in to touch Joseph. You definitely have to watch her while she is in his room. Even though it is a hassle to get them in and out and it takes 40 minutes to get over to the hospital, it is so good for them to start bonding with him and feel like they are a part of his journey also. They have not gotten to see him as much as Kirby and I, but you can see the love they have for him already just beaming out when they are with him.
Dear Joseph,
We are amazed with your progress and how strong you become everyday! When you open your eyes and stare at us through your isolate you melt our hearts. Your tiny fingers and toes are filling out with a little fat and your is body growing. Your journey is a true testament to Gods faith and love for us, your life will forever be a part of Gods story. We cannot wait to see how he uses you and your story throughout your life, it is definitely going to be a remarkable. Your sisters love holding your hand and rubbing your back. They ask to come and see you all the time, just be glad you are getting some quiet time before you come home, its loud at our house! We love spending time holding you and bonding but we are really ready for you to come and be a part of our crazy life. We are cherishing each second we get to be with you and know that your progress is moving quickly. We are praying for continued strength and progress each step you move forward. The love our family and friends already have for you is unmeasurable , you my little boy are a true gift that has blessed many in the 2 short months you have been alive. We cannot imagine life before we meet your sweet face.
We love you!
