On December 31st, 2016, Joseph Daniel Price was born, we just didn’t know it yet. As we were journeying through the adoption world, feeling rejected and let down, God was weaving together our story. We had been not chosen by 12 mothers at that point in our journey, we were on the verge of counting adoption off our list for good. Nerves and tension was high as we felt this may not be the path God had intended for our family after all. I mean wouldn’t it just be easier to get pregnant on our own, this was becoming torture week after week. The ultimate goal of helping a child who would not have a chance otherwise was becoming bleak, quickly. Isn’t it funny how we were marking it off our list and God was just beginning our story. That night of the 31st, our son came into this world weighing a mean 1 pound and 1 ounce at 24 weeks of gestation. God knew he was saving this little boy especially for our family, he may be small but he was already mighty. From his first breath he became a fighter, destine to do big things in this world.
We learned of Joseph on January the 12th at 12:30pm from our lawyer. The funny thing is we were not working with our lawyer to adopt, in fact I didn’t even know she saw moms who were wanting to adopt. She was actually helping us with interstate laws to hopefully match with a mother out of state. Once again, God at work without us knowing. She at the end of a conversation about different laws and regulations said well, I don’t know if you are interested but we have a baby who isn’t really special needs but he was born at 24 weeks, 2 weeks ago, if you want him he is yours. I mean really? It is that easy? We have been jumping through hoops to present to mothers across the United States for the last 6 months and you call and say this baby is yours if you want him! What a God thing, no other explanation! I said yes, we are interested, let me call Kirby and in the mean time please send us medical records and more information. Let me just say, Kirby was stunned if not completely shocked! Of course he was thinking more logically than myself and had a list of questions, when all I was thinking is she gave us a baby! We proceeded to tell our lawyer we would wait through the weekend and monitor his health and if all was good come the next Wednesday we would make a choice. Well it is now Monday and we will meet our son on Wednesday when we head home fro Arizona!
We know that we have a long road ahead of us with many up’s and down’s. We are praying that not only will he survive but that each day he will thrive! We believe that just like Joseph in the bible he will overcome adversity and do marvelous things with his life. He has already gained weight and continues to progress daily. We welcome your prayers and are so thankful for the support we have gotten from all of you so far! We can not wait for you to meet Joseph in person. What a special boy he is already!
What a beautiful story and beautiful beginning in the little mans life. Praying for him constantly!
