“Through the wind and the rain my eyes are on you, for it is well with me soul”
Baby Joseph had a big day yesterday, his 3rd brain scan to check the bleeding in his brain and also a blood transfusion. Both things are fairly normal for micro preemie baby and nothing to be concerned about. They said that he may have several blood transfusion to clean his blood. When you are in your mothers womb she continues to circulate new blood into your system but when you are born so early your body is not quit ready to take that responsibility on by itself, so they will assist him when needed in circulated and refreshing his blood occasionally. He came out of the transfusion with no set backs and is now continuing to tolerate the increase in feedings.
We continue to rely on God to heal and progress his body each day. They have lowered his oxygen intake on the ventilator to almost as low as it can be and he is continuing to progress in that area. Hopefully in the few weeks he will move a mask to breath out of versus the tube into his lungs. He also has increased the amount of breast milk they are giving him through his feeding tube to 3 oz every 3 hours. We are praying he continues to gain weight and quickly!
Tomorrow we will be able to reach our arms in his little incubator and touch his sweet fragile body. It will be a few more weeks before we are allowed to do “Kangaroo time” or skin to skin because they do not want to jostle his brain, instead they would like him to remain very still, so the brain can absorb the blood. This is similar to if you were to have a concussion . We will also be transferred the list to get updates straight from the nurse and the green light to go in and out of the NICU as we please. We will meet with the doctor to discuss the plan for moving forward and what to expect next. Little Joseph is a fighter already and we can’t wait to meet him in person tomorrow.
Psalm 139:13-14
For you formed my inward parts;
you knitted me together in my mothers womb.
I praise you, for I am fearfully and Wonderfully made.
Wonderful are your works;
my soul knows it very well.
Romi, Kirby, Madelyn & Isla,
Praying with you daily for your new little blessing. We will look forward to your updates as often as you can post.
“Joseph, I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
