Love

(Guys, whats going on?!)

“So now, faith, hope and love abide, these three; but the greatest of these is LOVE.”

1st Corinthians 13:13

Love is an appropriate title since today is Valentines Day! We are head over heels in love with this baby boy and continue to fall more in love with him everyday, he has stolen our hearts for sure! He is making big leaps forward this week. His oxygen is down to 25% and they will soon be moving him off of the vapotherm and to the nasal cannula. He is stating in the high 90% with oxygen saturation and continuing to gain weight. Joseph is now up to 2 pounds and 3 ounces. They have increased his feeding to 20ML every 3 hours and he is loving it. He is digesting it all with little to none left before the next feeding. Our kangaroo time has gotten so much better this week, he has been settling in right away on me and we have hardly had to turn up his oxygen during this process. He usually does not like to eat while he is on me because he has reflux. Yesterday, he was a champ and ate while doing kangaroo time with no drops in oxygen. This is great news considering he usually drops a little in oxygen while eating in his isolate. I think we are both becoming increasingly more comfortable with one another!

Our family is settling into NICU life and getting used to the new schedule of mom being gone for at least 3 hours out of the day. We know that as he progresses the hours of me being gone will only increase, so we are taking advantage of the amazing nurses that are taking care of him for now. As he grows we will once again adjust our schedule to include me both being mommy to my girls at home and mommy to little Joseph in the NICU, it is a balance we are learning :).  We hope that your Valentines Day was filled with love for those around you. We are so thankful that God grew our hearts just a little more to fit our love for Joseph in this year. We knew through the adoption process that we had a heart shaped hole waiting for a special baby but this year we are overjoyed that we have found that baby. To have a face and a name for a little one you have prayed and dreamed about for years means so much. You know during the process that God is at work but through the valley somehow it gets foggy, the devil loves to make you doubt the plans God has made for your life. We know that God carved out a special road for us and now we know that it was to meet Joseph. We are thankful we did not give up hope but continued to move through the process and listen to God even in our hurt and frustrations because look at what an amazing end result we were given.
